Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Land Consents Manager to secure and manage land rights for underground cables and overhead lines across our distribution network. You’ll develop consent strategies and lead negotiations to keep projects on time and within budget.

Based in the Highlands with travel to Inverness, Elgin, Wick or Highlands and Islands, you’ll collaborate with landowners, authorities and agencies, and you’ll have access to a vehicle for work travel.

Qualifications

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience securing wayleaves, servitudes, land purchases, lease agreements and access permissions.
  • Experience working with landowners, tenants, and their agents, local authorities, national agencies and the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit.
  • Solid understanding and practical application of land rights, planning procedures, and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

Job description

Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations Inverness, Elgin, Wick or Highlands and Islands.

Salary: £50,964 - £60,899 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

Our Land Consents Managers play a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of our project portfolio, helping drive progress toward a net-zero carbon future across our electricity distribution network.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for securing, managing, and maintaining strong land and property rights for underground cables, overhead lines, and ground-mounted equipment on both public and private land.

You will
  • Develop and implement consent strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in a sustainable manner.
  • Proactively manage risks to safeguard the long-term security of the electricity network.
  • Lead negotiations and secure wayleaves, servitudes, land acquisitions, lease agreements and access permissions.

You have

This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.

The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.

A valid driving licence is essential.
