Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) powers Microsoft's cloud services, focusing on delivering high-quality infrastructure for cloud operations.

The growth of Microsoft's cloud business necessitates the acquisition and development of Data Center facilities. The Infrastructure Planning & Acquisition (IPA) team handles the planning and acquisition of Data Center Infrastructure, with the Land Acquisition Team responsible for securing the necessary real estate.

The Land Acquisitions Manager plays a key role in acquiring land, sometimes before zoning is in place, to support the build-out of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities include researching property characteristics, engaging with brokers, developers, government entities, and internal teams, and accelerating market growth through proactive pre-construction activities. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact a large data center portfolio and help expand infrastructure in various markets.

The role involves developing relationships with stakeholders, evaluating property solutions, engaging with municipalities, and managing complex contracts from both business and technical perspectives. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Proven negotiation and deal-making experience.
• Ability to negotiate legal documents and collaborate with legal resources.
• Strong communication skills and effectiveness across organizations.
• Understanding of real estate, technical, and construction requirements.
• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or related fields.
• Positivity and resilience in dynamic environments.
• Proven ability to influence teams and leaders positively.
• Effective engagement across all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree or higher, including Juris Doctor, in relevant fields.
• Experience in the data center industry, including siting and operations.
• Transaction or project management experience.
• Knowledge of alternative real estate transaction approaches and site selection.
• Ability to understand and communicate technical requirements related to electrical systems, cooling, fiber optics, and Internet infrastructure.
