Vision for Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated Looked After Children (LAC) Tutor to work in person with cared-for children on a part-time basis in Preston.

We are seeking an experienced LAC Tutor who can provide one-to-one tuition for students who are unable to attend an educational setting or require additional support in a specific curriculum area. Tuition sessions may range from 1 to 3 hours per day, both within and outside school hours, depending on the student's timetable and individual needs.

We are looking for an LAC Tutor who can work on a one-to-one basis with students who have the following needs:

1. Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
2. Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
3. Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
4. Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

Responsibilities:

1. Build positive relationships and assist students in overcoming barriers to learning.
2. Plan and deliver Maths and English lessons.
3. Implement teaching and learning strategies based on the student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), making necessary adjustments to maintain focus and motivation.
4. Liaise with schools to obtain schemes of work and report any concerns or issues as required.
5. Complete weekly reports detailing student engagement and attainment, as well as recording weekly attendance figures.

About the Role:

Tuition sessions may be requested by local authorities, mainstream schools, or alternative provisions. These sessions typically take place off-site in community venues such as:

1. Libraries
2. Residential homes
3. Schools
4. The family home (provided an appropriate adult is present)

A full risk assessment and evaluation will be conducted prior to the commencement of any tuition with a student.

Requirements:

To be considered for the role of LAC Tutor, you must:

1. Have proven experience of instructing or teaching young people.
2. Be able to teach Maths and English.
3. Be available to work in the Preston area.
4. Possess a comprehensive understanding of working with young people with EHCPs for Special Educational Needs, with supporting references.
5. Have experience in implementing a range of de-escalation strategies in challenging situations involving young people.

Salary:

Salary is dependent on experience, training, and qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position include:

1. A teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS)
