Job description

We are recruiting for a Labourer/General Operative as part of the Social Value Scheme for our Strand Arts Centre project in Belfast. The scheme aims to support an individual wishing to step into employment. Click on the job title for further details.

Contract Type: Fixed Term for duration of project
Hours of Work: 39 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8.00 am - 4.30 pm, Friday 8am - 4.00 pm
Location: Strand Arts Centre, Belfast

JOB SUMMARY

We are recruiting for a Labourer/General Construction Operative as part of the Social Value Scheme for our project at Strand Arts Centre in Belfast. The Social Value Scheme aims to support residents of Belfast wishing to step into employment, who are:

  1. over 25 and have been unemployed for more than 12 months.
  2. under 25 and have been unemployed for more than 6 months.
  3. young people aged 16-24 years not in education, employment or training.
  4. Anyone who has left education in the last 12 months.

As a Labourer/General Operative you will work as part of a team onsite to complete the refurbishment work at one of Belfast's iconic buildings. Previous experience or general knowledge of construction is required. Full training will be provided as part of our commitment to health & safety onsite.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Knowledge of general construction operations.
  • Ability to operate hand/power tools safely.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and welfare.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to take direction and be flexible.
  • Great work ethic & attitude.
  • CSR card holder.
  • Past experience on commercial construction sites.
