JOB TITLE: Labourer
DEPARTMENT: Workshop
SALARY: Competitive
RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Manager
HOURS: 39hpw Monday to Friday
Main purpose of the role
The post holder will undertake a range of labouring duties to ensure the workshop, yard and skip area are kept clean and tidy. Assisting with deliveries and accurate and efficient storages of materials/products to meet the needs of the business is also required.
Key responsibilities
- To maintain a high standard of housekeeping by ensuring that all areas of the workshop and surrounding areas are kept clean and tidy at all times to meet Health & Safety requirements and that of the Company.
- Assist with incoming deliveries, ensuring that they are off-loaded and delivering to the store.
- Collection of items from suppliers as and when required.
- Co-ordinate skip removal/replacement as needed.
- Provide cover for store person during holidays and absence, this will require covering all aspects of the role to include:
- Ensure that goods are accounted for on the Order Requisition and any adjustments / damages are clearly marked and reported.
- Ensure that goods received are in an acceptable condition and that any goods that are not fit are returned and the required documentation completed.
- Ensure that stock is stored correctly in a safe manner.
- To be flexible and prepared to work overtime as the needs of the business dictate.
- Providing excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Adhere to all relevant company policies and procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
- To participate and support all Company initiatives with compliance of procedures and requirements for ISO & 45001, FSC and Investors in People Standards.
- Any other duties required for the effective operation of the post as deemed by Management.
Essential Criteria
- Valid driving Licence as collection of items from various suppliers is required.
- A minimum of 1 years’ recent relevant experience in a similar role.
Skills & Knowledge
- Trustworthy and reliable.
- Excellent communication.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on an individual basis.
Other
- The work is of a physically demanding nature and involves working outside in all weather conditions.
- Flexibility as overtime will be required on occasions to ensure the efficient delivery of service.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
