Job description

The Labour Ward Coordinator has 24 hour responsibility for a specialised clinical area and is responsible for the organisation of the workload in that area and includes liaising with community midwives antenatal/postnatal ward, triage, fetal maternal assessment unit, antenatal clinic, and supporting bereavement care

About the Role

The successful candidate will be a member of a team of labour ward coordinators and will be supporting and developing midwives rotating between the antenatal/postnatal ward and delivery suite, supporting families using our services during pregnancy, labour and postpartum. The Labour Ward Coordinator must be able to conduct births on their own and to care for the newborn infant. The care includes preventative measures, the detection of abnormal conditions, calling for medical assistance and undertaking emergency measures in the absence of medical help.

There is a responsibility for day to day management of the team providing specialist advice, leadership, supervision and coordination of staff within the unit including members of the multi disciplinary team

The Labour Ward Coordinator has an individual responsibility to manage a team overseeing for example; appraisals, absence management and mentoring.

Working Pattern:Full and part time positions available. Monday - Sunday 07:30- 20:30 and 20:00 - 08:00. An on call commitment is required in the week and at weekends
