Job summary

A family-run food manufacturer in the York area is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their dedicated team. This permanent position requires weekend work Saturday to Tuesday and involves performing analytical tests, maintaining records, and ensuring food safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have previous lab experience in the food sector and a relevant science qualification.

Job Description:

A well-established, family-run food manufacturer based in the York area is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its small, dedicated technical team.

Please note, this role is over 4 days and permanent weekend work Saturday-Tuesday, 7-4pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical testing and quality checks on incoming raw materials and finished products
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Support process improvement and NPD activities
  • Conduct hygiene monitoring and uphold lab safety/cleanliness standards
  • Liaise with production, technical, and process teams to ensure quality expectations are met

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous lab or QA/QC experience, ideally within the food manufacturing sector
  • Understanding of laboratory testing methods and food safety protocols
  • A science-based qualification (degree, HND, A-levels) or equivalent experience
