A leading healthcare laboratory service provider in Basildon is seeking a Band 3 Laboratory Technician to support a dynamic Microbiology team. The role involves specimen handling, basic laboratory investigations, and data entry. Candidates should have ECDL knowledge and relevant qualifications such as NVQ3 and GCSEs. This position operates on a rotational schedule, providing essential services to local hospitals.
The role involves supporting a range of biomedical activities, including the efficient handling and processing of specimens for analysis, as well as performing routine tasks such as loading specimens onto clinical analysers and assisting with basic machine maintenance. The position also includes conducting basic laboratory investigations under the supervision of Associate Practitioners and Biomedical Scientists. Working on a rotational basis across all areas of Microbiology, the role encompasses responsibilities in data entry, both automated and manual bacteriology, and Serology.
We are currently recruiting for Band 3 Laboratory Technician to join our fast paced and dynamic Microbiology team. This role is part of a team which provides an efficient and effective Microbiology service to two general hospitals (Southend University/Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital Trusts) and local GP community. Were the first lab in the UK to be able to offer some Specialist BMS staff the opportunity to read bacterial cultures from home, utilising BD Kiestra Synapsys technology. The hours will be between 8.00am and 8.00pm Mondays to Fridays, and 9.00am to 5.30pm Saturdays and Sundays on Rota basis.
