Laboratory Technician - FluCamp Clinical Trials, London

hVIVO is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team at our London sites in E1 & E14.

The Laboratory Technician will perform processing, storage, and transport of subjects' samples according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, providing technical support to ensure effective laboratory operations with a focus on quality.

hVIVO conducts human challenge clinical trials aimed at eradicating or easing the treatment of common illnesses like cold and flu. Volunteers are central to our work, and our studies test new treatments in a safe, controlled environment.

This position offers casual hours on a zero-hours contract via a third-party agency, paying £11/hour. Flexibility for shifts from Monday to Sunday is required.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform receipt, processing, and storage of samples according to analytical plans and GCP standards, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Maintain documentation related to sample receipt, processing, and storage.
  • Handle receipt, processing (if required), storage, and transport of samples as per SOPs and GCP.
  • Conduct molecular, cell culture, and assay procedures as specified.
  • Develop laboratory skills as needed for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with GCP, SOPs, and company standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across sites and divisions.
  • Assist in producing kits and labeled samples.
  • Operate standard laboratory equipment (e.g., incubators, safety cabinets, water baths, pH meters, balances, pipettes, centrifuges, microscopes).
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping, including waste disposal, equipment cleaning, inventory management, and monitoring temperature-sensitive equipment.
Skills & Experiences
  • GCSE or BTEC qualification in a Science subject.
  • Previous laboratory experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, organizing own time and resources with some guidance.
  • Good communication skills.
