Element has an opportunity for a 12-month fixed-term appointment as a Laboratory Technician at our BM TRADA timber services facility near High Wycombe. This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a global Testing, Inspection & Certification business.

Responsibilities

You will work independently at times, while being part of a well-supported technical team. Your tasks will include:

  • Carrying out conformity testing of building products, especially screws, nails, and other fasteners
  • Producing test certificates in accordance with our laboratory’s accreditation
  • Occasional use of our wood workshop machinery (training provided)
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
  • Following procedures in the quality management system
  • Organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of the timber laboratory
Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience in a laboratory environment preferred
  • Ability to work to British and European standards (training provided)
  • Customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Common sense, hardworking, self-disciplined, and pride in tasks
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Computer literacy, especially MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail
  • Educated to A Level, HNC/D, Degree in a STEM discipline
  • Ideal for recent college leavers or graduates seeking career development with an international company

Our site is in a rural location between Hughenden Valley and Naphill; own transport is recommended.
