Role: Laboratory Technician- Crops, Horticulture, Plant Science

Location: Cheshire - covering two sites in close proximity to each other

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Russell Taylor Group are looking for a hands-on R&D Technician to join a research team developing sustainable crop protection solutions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with plants, understands experimental work, and has previous experience in R&D or greenhouse environments.

You'll support day-to-day screening trials for fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides from maintaining plant and pest cultures to preparing and applying test compounds.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and run fungicide, insecticide, and herbicide screening trials
  • Grow and maintain a variety of crops and weed species
  • Record plant responses and assess crop health and phytotoxicity
  • Assist with sample preparation, formulation, and data collection
  • Maintain seeds, cultures, and greenhouse stock for ongoing experiments
  • Support the team with day-to-day tasks and learn about the full development process
The Person
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Biology, Plant Science, or related field
  • Some R&D or greenhouse experience - practical plant work is a must
  • PA1 certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • A keen interest in plant biology and sustainable agriculture
  • Hands-on and confident working in both lab and greenhouse settings
  • A true team player who also works well independently
  • Passion to develop career within
