Job summary

A Laboratory Technician Apprentice role is available in Doncaster. You will support day-to-day laboratory work, assist with testing, prepare samples, and maintain a clean, safe working environment while receiving structured training towards a Level 3 qualification.

The apprenticeship combines on-the-job training with off-the-job learning, with no previous laboratory experience required and opportunities to progress as you gain practical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.
• No previous laboratory experience required.
• Training towards Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.
• Earn while you learn with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with laboratory tests and experiments under supervision
• Preparing samples, materials and equipment for testing
• Accurately recording results and maintaining laboratory records
• Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment

Job description

Working Week: The trainees are being set on the day shift with 5 days a week from 0800 till 1700. Once training is complete they would be expected to join one of the two 4 day a week shifts.

Brief Description

Doncaster, DN6 - We are looking for a motivated and practical Laboratory Technician Apprentice to join our laboratory team. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn, developing hands‑on laboratory skills while working towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship.

Qualifications Required

GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Personal Qualities

• Ability to work unsupervised following a planned work schedule
• Writing and numeracy skills
• Familiarity with computers / keyboards / typing skills
• Word, Excel, Access – statistics, graphs, data analysis
• General awareness of importance of safety, and in particular safety issues of working in a laboratory.

About the role
