Job summary

PepsiCo in Leicester seeks a dedicated quality on-shift professional to govern lab quality and food safety on site. You will maintain calibration, run tests, and support on-shift QA processes to ensure first-time compliance with standards.

You will lead training, identify faults, and manage hold/release activities while contributing to ongoing lab reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Post-A-Level qualification or equivalent experience in a WSF quality or lab role.
• Experience in delivering and facilitating training packages.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Background in Food Quality & Food Safety Standards.
• Qualification in Food Quality/Hygiene desirable.
• Excellent IT skills and leadership capability.

Responsibilities

• Shiftly calibration of analytical equipment (lab & factory).
• Identify trends in faults and take corrective actions.
• Train LGO and LGSOs on analytical methods, SOPs and SWPs.
• Conduct validation and proficiency testing.
• Scope and raise holds and releases on shift.
• Approve on-shift Quality & Food Safety Checks.
• Perform cleaning verification and sign-off post sanitation.
• Conduct lab tests for Finished Product compliance.

The main purpose of this role is to provide the Quality and Food Safety Governance on shift.

Ensuring a fully functioning laboratory on shift that delivers the testing compliance required to maintain good quality, safe food right first time.

Responsibilities

• Shiftly calibration of all analytical equipment (lab & factory)
• Identifying trends in the faults being seen and taking appropriate action to resolve.
• Training of the LGO and LGSOs on analytical methods, SOPs and SWPs relevant to lab.
• Validation and proficiency testing
• Scoping and raising of the hold & release process on shift
• Approval of on shift Quality & Food Safety Checks
• Cleaning verification and sign off post sanitation activities
• Conducting lab tests for Finished Product compliance

Tasks

• 80% utilised by Standard Lab tasks (Oil / Salts / Moisture checks)
  • Ensuring FL710/S9 weekly/monthly proficiency checks are completed
  • Troubleshoot basic instrument malfunctions or elevate where necessary
  • Support with weekly/monthly instrument proficiency checks in the absence of the Laboratory Specialist and pipeline
  • Take ownership of CQA sample analysis
• 20% utilised Quality Control activities:
  • Final Cleaning Check
  • Scope and Raising of Holds
  • On shift QCFS check approvalsTroubleshooting / Support where required

Qualifications

Key experience and skills:

• Post-A-Level qualification (BSc; Btech or Food Tech) or > experience working in a WSF quality or Lab role.
• Experience in training including delivering and facilitating training packages
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Background in Food Quality & Food Safety Standards
• Qualification in Food Quality/Hygiene (desirable but not mandatory)
• Excellent IT skills
• Leadership skills
• Strong Team worker and contributor.
• Flexible, ‘can do,’ attitude to role and duties.
• Results driven and understands the link between action/results, inputs/outputs.
• Ability to influence others
• Able to prioritise workloads
