Job summary

Manpower UK is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to support a dairy production environment in Tewkesbury. The role is 37.5 hours per week, with Rotating weekday shifts and occasional weekend coverage.

You will sample and test raw milk and pasteurised products to ensure quality, food safety and legal compliance. Experience in a laboratory is preferred; attention to detail, methodical approach and ability to work in a clean FMCG setting are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sampling and testing raw milk and pasteurised dairy products.
• Carrying out microbiological, chemical and compositional testing using aseptic technique.
• Accurately recording and interpreting laboratory results.
• Monitoring HACCP controls and supporting food safety compliance.
• Completing water testing and Certificates of Analysis for customers.
• Maintaining clean, compliant laboratory areas and equipment.
• Following COSHH, Health and Safety, and Good Laboratory Practice procedures.
• Working with Laboratory Manager and Technical team.
• Undertake other reasonable laboratory duties to support operations.

Job description

Based in Tewkesbury, this temporary Laboratory Technician post supports dairy production within a clean FMCG setting. Working 37.5 hours weekly, the successful candidate samples and tests raw milk and pasteurised goods, ensuring quality, food safety and legal compliance. Shifts rotate across weekdays from 05:30, 06:00, 07:00 and midday, plus weekend cover roughly once monthly on Saturday mornings and occasional Sunday duties. Pay reaches £15.05 hourly, with permanent status possible after twelve weeks. Applicants need prior laboratory experience, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with testing methods. The position suits someone methodical who thrives on accuracy within technical operations. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our technical team in a modern, clean FMCG environment in Tewkesbury. You will help ensure our dairy products meet quality, food safety and legal standards.

LOCATION: Tewkesbury Industrial Estate

PAY: £ 12.05 per hour

HOURS: 37.5 per week

WORKING PATTERN

Weekdays: Weekday shifts rotate between 05:30, 06:00, 07:00 andamp; 12:00

Saturday: Saturday at 08:00, Sunday at 06:00

Additional Information: Saturday shifts consist of the following times, with approx. 1 Saturday off a month. Sunday shifts are 06:00-18:00 (approx. once every 6-8 weeks). 03:00-11:00 05:30-13:30 06:00-14:00 07:00-15:00 Midday - end of production DURATION: Temp to Perm after 12 weeks

What you will be doing

• Sampling and testing raw milk and pasteurised dairy products
• Carrying out microbiological, chemical and compositional testing using aseptic technique
• Accurately recording and interpreting laboratory results
• Monitoring HACCP controls and supporting food safety compliance
• Completing water testing and customer Certificates of Analysis
• Keeping laboratory areas clean, tidy and compliant
• Following COSHH, Health andamp; Safety, Food Safety and Good Laboratory Practice procedures
• Working closely with the Laboratory Manager and Technical team
• Undertake any other reasonable laboratory duties to support the efficient operation of the department

What we are looking for

• Previous laboratory experience, preferably within food or dairy manufacturing
• Understanding of standard laboratory practices and accurate record keeping
• Knowledge of microbiology, food hygiene and food safety principles
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, food safety, HACCP or microbiology
• GCSS or equivalent in English, Maths and Science A-Level or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry or a related subject would be advantageous
• Experience is not essential.
