Job summary

A leading laboratory services provider in Rother, United Kingdom, is seeking a Quality Control Analyst to maintain safe laboratory operations and conduct quality control analysis. The ideal candidate has a degree in Chemistry or a related field and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include performing quality analysis, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing lab equipment. This role involves working in 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Chemistry/Science (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques such as GC, GCMS, IC, XRF, Titrations.
  • Knowledge of distillation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe and efficient operation of all activities within the laboratory.
  • Perform routine and non-routine quality control analysis and interpretation.
  • Sign off and dispatch materials to customers, ensuring specifications are met.
  • Carry out safety-critical tasks/analysis as per procedure.
  • Perform calibrations and QC checks of lab equipment.

Main purpose of the role

Responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient operation of all activities within the laboratory, including compliance with health and safety regulations and relevant quality assurance procedures.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level or equivalent in Chemistry/Science (desirable but not essential).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and non-routine quality control analysis and interpretation.
  • Sign off and dispatch materials to customers, ensuring required specifications are met.
  • Authorise the receipt of loads onto site.
  • Perform data entry and filing of reports to ensure accurate analytical data is presented in the correct format and in a timely fashion to all relevant parties.
  • Carry out safety-critical tasks/analysis as per procedure.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleaning standards within the laboratory.
  • Aid wastewater management.
  • Liaise and communicate results effectively to other departments.
  • Perform calibrations and QC checks of lab equipment.
  • Ensure non-conforming materials are communicated effectively.
  • Undertake project work to improve laboratory and plant processes.
  • Promote high standards of health and safety within the laboratory.
  • Report near-miss accidents and incidents.
  • Make continuous improvement suggestions to supervisors/management and monitor equipment performance.
Skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literate, proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of SAP is desirable but not essential.
  • Hardworking and able to multitask.

Hours of Work

The laboratory operates in 8-hour shifts: 07:00-15:30 or 08:30-17:00, Monday to Friday.
