Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join a growing, multi-sector business. You will work a 4-shift pattern on a rotation, including weekends, with each shift 12 hours long and a 15% uplift on the basic salary, based on a 37.5 hour week.

You will analyse alloy samples using combustion, OES and XRF, prepare samples, maintain equipment and input results to the company database with precision and consistency.

Qualifications

• A science background with good mathematical and computer skills.
• Ability to interpret results and adjust alloy chemistry within scope.
• Willingness to cover 24/7 lab pattern in a small team.
• Meticulous with exceptional attention to detail.
• Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and be self-sufficient.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

If you are seeking a Laboratory Technician’s role within an interesting, growing business who work across a number of industry sectors, this could be the opportunity you seek. You will be required to work across a 4 shift pattern on a rotation (including some weekends with each shift being 12hrs, 6am-6pm or 6pm to 6am) which will reward you with a 15% uplift on the basic salary.

The Role:

• Analysis of alloy samples by instrumental techniques using; Combustion, Optical emission and X-ray Fluorescence Samples include preliminary melt samples, certification samples, and remelt samples from casting plants and external customers
• Preparation of samples for analysis
• Routine maintenance and standardisation of laboratory equipment
• Inputting of results to company database

Preferred Skills:

• A science background with good mathematical and computer skills.
• Ability to interpret results and make decisions on alloy chemistry adjustments within the scope of the role.
• Flexibility to work within a small team to provide 24/7 laboratory cover with the ability to work across this 3 shift work pattern.
• Meticulous, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Able to work alone, self-sufficiently, and independently prioritise tasks.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Working Hours:

• 37.5 hours per week, WITH A 15% SHIFT PREMIUM 4 shift pattern on a rotation (including some weekends with each shift being 12hrs, 6am-6pm or 6pm to 6am)
