Job summary

Eurofins UK Food Testing is seeking a part-time Stock Controller for the Microbiology laboratory. You will manage stock levels, ensure timely testing by distributing consumables and maintaining accurate stock records.

The role runs 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 18:00–22:00, with duties including receipt, unpacking, and rotation of stock to prevent waste. Ideal candidates will have GCSEs or equivalent, experience in team-based roles, and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent required.
• Experience working as part of a team is beneficial.
• Desirable experience in fast-paced production work and aseptic techniques.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisation and time management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage stock control sheet and monthly updates for finance submission.
• Order and receiptthe stock for all Microbiology lab areas to ensure testing continuity.
• Unpack stock on arrival and rotate stock to use older items first.
• Maintain stock locations in an organised, clean and safe manner; support rotation.
• Coordinate packing and distribution of consumables to customers; optimize logistics.
• Maintain consumable tracker to apply charges to customers for stock distributed.
• Prepare dry pre-poured media and supplement broths/media for lab use.
• Collaborate with waters team to maintain distribution costing across departments.
• Work aseptically and wear PPE; assist with waste removal and waste system hygiene.
• Follow health and safety legislation and display hazard signs where appropriate.
• Carry out other reasonable tasks as designated by line manager.

Job Description

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

The purpose of this role is to work with the laboratory and goods in team to organise and control the stock levels for the Microbiology laboratory. Along with controlling the distribution of consumables to our customer.

Please note this is a part time role, working 20 hours a week - Monday to Friday 18:00 till 22:00.

• Take responsibility for the stock control sheet ensuring it is updated throughout the month and complete at the end of each month to be submitted to finance.
• Orderand receiptthe stock for all areas of the Microbiology laboratory ensuring they always have sufficient amounts to complete testing on time.
• Unpackstock on arrival into the required location, ensuring they comply with a stock rotation system so that old stock is used before new stock.
• Ensureall stock locations are maintained in an organised, clean and safe manner and help maintain stock rotation.
• Co-ordinate the packing up and distribution of consumables to be sent out to customers, work with logistics to implement the most efficient and cost effective way to complete this.
• Maintain the consumable tracker to ensure the relevant charges are applied to customers for stock distributed.
• Dry pre-poured media ready for use in the laboratory.
• Supplement broths and medias ready for use within the laboratory.
• Workwith the waters team to implement and maintain a distribution line between the departments ensuring relevant costing is applied.
• Work aseptically and wear appropriate PPE when in the laboratory.
• Removal of waste from the laboratory throughout the day and maintenance of the hygiene of the internal bins and waste system.
• To be familiar with relevant health and safety legislation and to ensure that all relevant, hazard signs are used when appropriate.
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks as designated by your line manager.

Qualifications

• Educated toGCSE level, or equivalent.
• Experience in working in part of a team.
• It will be desirable to have experience in any type of fast pace production work and be experiencedusing aseptic techniques.
• High attention to detail.
• Good organisation and time management.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to self motivate.
