CEO and Co-Founder at GLOX Therapeutics Ltd.

Position: Laboratory Technician

Location: Glasgow – Two Year Fixed Contract

Glox Therapeutics is developing precision protein antibiotics to target bacterial pathogens that show high levels of resistance to conventional antibiotics due to the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR is a major global public health crisis predicted to cause 10 million deaths per year by 2050 at a cost of $100 trillion unless new classes of antibiotics are developed.

Glox’s novel engineered protein bacteriocin antibiotics are designed to precisely target pathogenic bacteria without collateral damage to the microbiome. Maintenance of a healthy microbiome is essential to prevent AMR due to the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and capable Laboratory Technician with a proven track record of productivity, excellent communication skills, collaboration and an enthusiasm to work with our existing dynamic team in Glasgow and also support and collaborate with our team in Oxford. Please note, this is a Two-year fixed contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing business focused on precision medicine within the AMR space.

Main duties and responsibilities

As a Laboratory Technician, you will have experience of protein production and characterization as well as experience in molecular biology. You will also be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • BSc or equivalent experience in microbiology or a relevant subject
  • Some scientific knowledge in microbiology and molecular biology
  • Some experience in protein engineering, production and characterization
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to work on own initiative and in a team environment
  • Experience and/or a passion to work in a start-up environment would be a bonus
  • Experience of in vitro and in vivo infection models
  • Some knowledge/experience in antibiotic research and development

If you feel you have what it takes to join our vibrant company, then we would love to hear from you. Please forward your CV and a covering letter to info@gloxtherapeutics.com. Closing date is Friday 21 st h March 2025.
