Job description
Overview

The role holder will be responsible for the quality control testing on an anaerobic digestion plant, which is a 24/7 operation, undertaking analytical services of the different streams generated along the process, ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance such as ABP and PAS110, whilst contributing to continuous improvement in productivity and plant availability.

Responsibilities
  • Check/record analytical results with a high level of accuracy, highlighting any borderline or non-confirming results to the Plant Supervisor.
  • Provide high operational availability, and an efficient diagnosis taking into account the undergoing analytical services.
  • Ensure record of any delivery into the plant, not only waste but also any chemical product.
  • Carry out non routine analytical work as directed by the Plant Supervisor/Plant Manager.
  • Carry out housekeeping activities in the laboratory.
  • Carry out routine calibration of different instruments.
  • Liaise with supervisor to ensure timely supply of analytical consumables/chemical substances required for undergoing the testing activities, minimising process downtime, maximising throughput and ensuring quality standards of the input/output products such as ABP and PAS110.
  • Sampling and testing different products such as the input waste as well as the output materials like inerts, digestate, biogas and other effluents, ensuring they fulfil the quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English, ideally with NVQ Level 3 in a chemical discipline.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician or similar role, ideally in green waste or water treatment.
  • Competent with laboratory testing protocols, instruments, and chemical substances.
  • Experience in 24/7 operational environments and familiarity with weighbridge operations (desirable).
  • IOSH or other safety qualifications (desirable).
