As our company grows and develops, we are ever expanding our teams. We have a great opportunity for a committed Laboratory Technician to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are looking for a dependable, dedicated and flexible Laboratory Technician to join our UKAS accredited Materials team. As a member of Materials, it is key that you are able to thrive in a team environment, as well as independently. The fundamental part of the role it to determine the physical properties of a wide range of materials including concrete, earthworks, aggregates and bituminous mixtures to ensure compliance with specifications. All testing will be undertaken in line with a range of British, European and American standards so a good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures is required.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

  • Work effectively within deadlines
  • Physical testing of construction materials i.e. compaction, density & strength
  • Preparation of soils for laboratory testing (i.e. breaking down samples to pass a 20mm sieve)
  • Undertake tasks in line with company QSHE protocol
  • Maintain effective internal relationships
  • Good organisational skills and to maintain good levels of cleanliness within the lab

Our Materials Testing team perform an extensive range of testing and compliance services across a wide range of construction projects including highways, rail, airfields, ports and harbours, power stations, sports stadia in addition to new build projects across industrial, commercial and residential properties.
