Job summary

SC Johnson Professional is seeking a Laboratory Technician to ensure products meet high quality standards and to carry out material and finished product analyses. The role involves microbiological and chemical testing within our Denby laboratories, with collaboration across Production, Quality and Supply Chain.

The team includes a Technical Manager, chemists and microbiologists; training is provided for on‑the‑job development and career progression in a supportive, science‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• GCSE/A-level or university degree in a science-related field.
• Ability to perform scientific measurements and record results.
• Proficient with IT systems, including Microsoft Office, and able to work in a GMP/GLP environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out raw material and finished product analysis in accordance with GLP/GMP and company specs.
• Perform microbiological testing and record results accurately.
• Calculate adjustments for out-of-spec products and communicate with production.
• Input raw material deliveries into systems and flag issues to Purchasing.

About the Role:

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products are manufactured to a high standard, whilst maintaining the product batch pass rate. You'll also be responsible for carrying out raw material and finished product analysis in line with SC Johnson’s company specifications.

About the Team:

Our laboratory team currently consists of our Technical Manager, 2 Process Chemists, 4 Laboratory Technicians and a Microbiologist. The successful candidate will work within this team to carry out microbiological testing and chemical testing for our raw materials and finished products. The position will predominantly be based within our labs with regular contact with key stakeholders within Production, Quality and Supply Chain

Responsibilities:

• Carry out raw material and finished product analysis in accordance with the requirements of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)/Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and in line with company specifications.
• Carry out microbiological testing in accordance with the requirements of GLP/GMP.
• Record the results of this analysis accurately and legibly.
• Calculate any adjustments necessary where products are found to be outside specifications and communicate this to process operatives.
• Input raw material deliveries into relevant systems and inform Purchasing of any problems.

• Scientific Qualifications at either GCSE, A-level, or University Degree level.
