Job description

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Cambridge

Contract Type: Full-time

Salary: £23,000-26,000 depending on experience (Includes a competitive Employee Benefit Scheme)

This company is a dynamic start-up biotech dedicated to developing innovative cancer treatments by targeting macrophage biology. Their drug discovery approaches are rooted in groundbreaking research, and they are the only company employing a precision medicine strategy to target disease-specific niches. Their vision is to be a leading biotech company by developing a portfolio of first-in-class therapeutics and a robust target discovery and validation platform. They are on the lookout for a dynamic, highly motivated, and organised individual to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain and order stocks of essential laboratory supplies and consumables.
  2. Conduct regular stock checks.
  3. Collect, unpack, and receive parcels and deliveries.
  4. Monitor and record laboratory stocks using an electronic LIMS system.
  5. Provide laboratory support services, including:
    1. Delivery of Liquid Nitrogen.
    2. Glass washing.
    3. Waste collection (GM waste and lab sundries).
    4. Laboratory coat laundry collection.
    5. Organising pipette clinics.
    6. Organising equipment servicing.
    7. Collection and disposal of routine laboratory waste (chemicals, clinical waste, WEEE, etc.) through agreed routes.
Requirements:

Essential:

  1. Minimum A-level or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in a biological laboratory environment.
  3. Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices.

Desirable:

  1. Experience in preparing buffers.
  2. Experience in conducting ELISA assays.
  3. Experience in managing and aliquoting samples as required.
  4. Experience in performing mammalian cell culture.
