Job summary

University of Leeds is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support busy research laboratories within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. You will help ensure researchers and technicians have access to equipment, facilities and resources to carry out world-class research.

Training will be provided; previous laboratory experience is not essential. A positive, can-do attitude with good literacy and numeracy, plus strong teamwork, are valued.

Qualifications

• Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Experience in a busy environment would be beneficial.
• Previous laboratory experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Collect and safely dispose of laboratory waste.
• Wash glassware and plasticware; clean benches and shelves.
• Assist with sterilisation, dispensing of solutions and operation of autoclaves.
• Support stock management and ordering of consumables.
• Assist with laboratory relocations and equipment movement; participate in larger projects.
• Provide cover across different locations as needed; work with academic staff, researchers and students.
