Job summary

A leading company based in Oxford is seeking a Laboratory Support Associate to provide essential support to the Lab Operations team. Responsibilities include managing lab inventory, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining high standards in a technical R&D environment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate relevant experience, strong communication, and problem-solving skills. This is a permanent on-site role, starting ASAP with competitive remuneration based on skills and experience.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Laboratory Assistant or Technician, preferably in R&D.
  • Knowledge of EH&S compliance and crisis management.
  • Experience with laboratory asset management systems beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Managing lab inventory, including consumables and equipment.
  • Conducting regular lab walkthroughs to identify issues.
  • Cleaning lab equipment, following SOPs.
  • Performing health and safety tasks, including risk assessments.

Job Description:

Laboratory Support Associate

Location: Oxford

Type: Permanent, start ASAP

Working hours: Mon-Fri, 8.00 - 16.30, onsite

Salary: Competitive, depending on skills, background, and experience

This role involves providing quality and timely support to the Lab Operations of a busy technical R&D facility based in Oxford.

Core responsibilities:
  • Managing lab inventory, including consumables, equipment, and machinery, both owned and vendor-managed, such as gases, reagents, and solvents
  • Conducting regular lab walkthroughs to identify issues related to safety, security, equipment calibration, and improvements
  • Transporting lab equipment and supplies from storage to workbenches
  • Cleaning lab equipment, including glassware and sterilization, following SOPs
  • Performing health and safety tasks, such as risk assessments, chemical expiration checks, updating COSHH documents, and supporting site audits
  • Maintaining high standards of lab housekeeping
Candidate background:
  • Proven experience as a Laboratory Assistant or Technician, preferably in R&D or clean room environments, with a good understanding of lab processes and protocols
  • Knowledge of EH&S compliance and crisis management; NEBOSH qualification or progress towards one is advantageous
  • Experience with laboratory asset management systems is beneficial
  • Strong communication skills, resilience, and a proactive attitude
  • Collaborative, efficient, and problem-solving mindset, with pride in onsite lab responsibilities
