Airbus UK is offering an undergraduate placement in the Materials Laboratory based in Broughton, Wales. You will join a team performing mechanical testing, chemical analysis, and metallurgical investigations, while gaining exposure to COSHH and data reporting.
A degree path in Chemistry, Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering is required, and you must be an undergraduate for the full placement period.

The Materials Laboratory function provides specialist services to various departments at Airbus in the UK, Broughton and external customers and suppliers. The department carries out a wide range of technical activities in support of various customers, some examples are described below:
Mechanical Testing - Carrying out all testing of a mechanical nature - such as testing of heat treatment control coupons. UTS and pre-load testing on mechanically fastened joints.
Chemical - Control and monitoring of chemicals used in surface treatments facilities. Chemical analysis associated with performance checks of equipment and consumables.
Metallurgical - Investigation of product/material non-conformance including material/component failures. Approval of specialist manufacturing personnel and assessment of suppliers technical capabilities.
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
