The Vacancy

RSK ADAS Ltd, a part of the RSK Group Ltd, is looking to recruit a Laboratory Research Scientist for a full-time, permanent position based at our Boxworth office near Cambridge.

This hands-on role involves working within the ADAS Sustainable Agricultural Systems Business on scientific projects for clients, including government agencies and leading UK and international companies, focusing on sustainable food production and environmental issues. The role primarily specializes in soils, nutrients, and pathology but also involves developing skills across other areas such as crop physiology, entomology, and weeds, fostering a collaborative 'one team' ethos.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory research in soils, nutrients, and plant pathology, contributing to projects in physiology, molecular biology, and weed science.
  • Follow protocols meticulously to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of laboratory projects.
  • Lead laboratory, glasshouse, polytunnel, and fieldwork, coordinating with colleagues and clients for timely results.
  • Ensure project objectives and deadlines are met, maintaining scientific credibility and client satisfaction.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues, collaborators, and industry partners to support business growth.
Person Specification
  • Relevant qualification such as A levels or higher, or demonstrated interest in agriculture and scientific research.
  • Full UK manual driving license is essential.
