Job description

Our clients have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Process Technician to join their growing team!

The Laboratory Process Technician will ensure quality and compliance of electroplating processes is consistent by performing accurate laboratory analyses, chemical maintenance, and solution management. Additionally, the role includes overseeing the daily operation and maintenance of the effluent treatment plant, ensuring safe and compliant discharge of process waste in line with environmental regulations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine chemical testing on electroplating and pre-treatment baths (nickel, tin, tin lead, copper & gold).
  • Adjust bath chemistries based on analysis results to keep solutions within operational limits.
  • Use wet chemistry methods (titration, pH, conductivity) and operate analytical instruments (e.g. spectrophotometers, MP-AES & HPLC).
  • Plating specific analysis methods such as Hull Cell tests.
  • Maintain accurate records of solution composition, additions, and testing schedules.
  • Monitor and report plating bath performance and contamination trends.
  • Support troubleshooting of plating defects and collaborate on Root Cause Analysis.
  • Operate and monitor the effluent treatment system, including pH correction, precipitation, filtration, and discharge control.
  • Test and record wastewater parameters (e.g. pH, conductivity, metal ion concentrations) to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, inspections, and preventive maintenance on equipment including pH electrodes.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in Chemistry, Science, or Mathematics.
  • Experience working in a chemistry laboratory environment, ideally within a manufacturing or process-based industry.
  • Understanding of plating processes and effluent handling.

Working hours:

8 30 Monday to Thursday, and 8 30 on Fridays
