Job summary

Aviagen is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the Serology, Bacteriology, Media Preparation and PCR sections. You will ensure accurate, timely test results and maintain data according to Aviagen standards while improving efficiency where possible.

The role requires 10 years in microbial lab techniques (including virology and molecular diagnostics) and strong leadership to manage a capable team, ensuring compliance with safety and quality policies and NABL accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

• Masters in Microbiology/biotechnology or equivalent.
• 10 years of experience in microbial laboratory techniques including virology and molecular diagnostics.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage a lab division.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of Serology, Bacteriology, Media Preparation and PCR.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability and timeliness of test results.
• Monitor pathogens (Salmonella and others) and provide diagnostic support.
• Manage laboratory staff including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
• Coordinate trainings, safety procedures and competency assessments.
• Prepare periodic reports and NABL accreditation-related documentation.
