  • Lead health and safety and environmental best practices within the laboratory, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
  • Maintain and author laboratory safety documentation, ensuring all documents are up-to-date, accessible, and clearly communicated.
  • Manage laboratory inventory and oversee stock control of consumables, reagents, and materials.
  • Arrange the procurement of laboratory consumables, equipment, and materials by communicating with relevant team members and external providers.
  • Oversee sample management of human biological samples in accordance with current legislation and support internal audits and process documentation.
  • Coordinate the servicing and calibration of laboratory equipment with external engineers and service providers.
  • Supervise laboratory waste disposal, including hazardous and clinical waste streams, in accordance with current legislation and environmental best practices.

At U-Ploid, we invest in our team by providing opportunities for personal and professional development. As we continue to grow, it is likely that your role will evolve and could expand to include company operations and global laboratory management. This is an exciting opportunity to learn a variety of skills across multiple different functions of the company!

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological science or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in health & safety and laboratory compliance standards in an industry or academic setting.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and external stakeholders.
  • Highly proactive and adaptable with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills, fostering collaboration across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Flexible and solutions-orientated approach to work, ability to support colleagues and prioritize tasks based on shifting company priorities.
  • Industrial or Biotechnology work experience in a laboratory operations role or equivalent.
  • Experience in laboratory inventory and stock control systems.
