We are currently seeking an interim Laboratory Coordinator to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. This role offers an opportunity to become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.
The position is based at our client’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. It is a full-time temporary role for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation is competitive, up to £29,719 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.

Role overview:
Coordination and preparation of fragrance evaluations on behalf of the HC Fragrance Team, ensuring standard and safe operating practices.
Duties include:
Coordination
- Work closely with fragrance experts to plan upcoming fragrance evaluations, book necessary facilities, prepare test cloths, and manage sample orders.
- Maintain stock for ballast loads and monitors, ordering as needed.
- Keep the benchmark library of products up to date, register new products, and dispose of outdated ones.
- Maintain the fragrance oil library, updating and registering oils in LIMS.
- Represent the fragrance team in weekly meetings to ensure smooth operations and cost efficiency.
- Manage visitor bookings, lunches, and meeting room arrangements.
Preparation
- Complete Job Sheets with correct protocols and test requirements.
- Log test product samples into the database and ensure their availability on-site.
Preparation of fabrics
- Apply best practices in fabric preparation, including desizing, labelling, and making ballast loads.
- Order fabrics and test monitors to maintain stock levels.
- Prepare samples with accurate dosages, label, and ensure proper water hardness and washing procedures.
- Perform test washes, load and unload washing machines, and sort test monitors for assessment.
- Handle hand washes, prepare cloths for assessment, and manage recovery of ballast loads.
- Track project costs and suggest process improvements.
Safety
- Create and maintain SOPs and risk assessments.
- Report safety or maintenance issues promptly.
- Dispatch samples following safety and labeling protocols.
Requirements
- Knowledge of safety procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
