About the role

Canterbury Health Laboratories Ashburton is looking for aLaboratory Assistant to join their team in Ashburton on a casual basis. We area small but busy laboratory where we are looking for someone who may be lookingfor a change in career or looking to pick up some extra hours. Full training inPhlebotomy will be provided.

You will be someone who likes to be around people, isn’tafraid of blood and wants to contribute to the wider health system. You willalso know your way around a computer at a junior level. In joining us you willbe part of a supportive and friendly team that has a strong focus on providinga quality laboratory service to the Ashburton community.

The laboratory operates between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00Monday to Friday. For this casual position, we are looking for someone who isflexible and available to cover planned and unplanned leave.

You will:

  • Enjoybeing around people and building relationships
  • Knowyour way around a computer at a junior level
  • Becomfortable with taking blood (full training will be provided)
  • Wantto contribute to the wider health system
  • Assome travel is required within the community, a full or restricted NZdriver’s license is essential

About you

  • Have a NCEA level 2 or equivalent
  • Have experience in and be able to demonstratecompetence in the collection of blood samples from patients
  • Possess effective interpersonal andorganisational skills
  • Can initiate and facilitate open communicationwith staff
  • Be client focused and committed to qualityoutcomes
