Role: Laboratory Assistant – Toxicology, permanent

Direct Report: to Associate Principal Scientist

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG.

Cyprotex is part of the Evotec Group, a global research leader. With advanced facilities and expertise, we provide bespoke solutions to our clients. Due to our growth, we are expanding our Toxicology team and seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support our ongoing projects and development.

The Role

As a Laboratory Assistant in Toxicology, you will work within our team that supports, coaches, and mentors each other. Collaborating with academic groups and international pharma and cosmetics companies, we utilize new science and technology to provide tailored solutions. We are committed to continuous scientific growth and assay development. We are looking for a new team member to support our expanding operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support safety toxicology screening assays such as High Content Imaging (HCI) for commercial activities.
  • Perform work following quality control procedures, within timelines, and safety regulations.
  • Assist in running and maintaining robotic systems for high throughput processes.
  • Prepare compounds, stock solutions, and buffers.
  • Routine calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Cell line maintenance.
  • Work autonomously as part of the team to deliver priorities, demonstrating good organization and communication skills.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience
  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science, English, and Maths. A-Levels / BTEC or laboratory experience is preferred but full training will be provided.
  • Experience with balances, fume hoods, and chemical handling is desirable.
  • Highly self-motivated and personable.
  • Effective communication skills within a team.
  • Ability to organize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in CRO or pharmaceutical environments is a plus.
