Tap into your potential and test a new career with Anglian Water! Anglian Water supplies clean, safe drinking water to 4.3 million people and cleans a billion litres of used water every single day before returning it back to nature, helping to protect both our rivers and biodiversity. Leading the industry by achieving ISO standards in quality, environment and health and safety ensures we can proudly say that we supply some of the best water on the planet.
We are currently looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join the team. What do we have to offer you?
What will you be doing?
Become a crucial member of the Anglian Water Family, working collaboratively in a time-critical environment to produce high-quality results, whilst delivering Anglian Water's goal in bringing environmental prosperity to the region. Be involved in sampling field work across the whole Anglian Water region for invertebrates, macrophytes, and other specimens as required using recognised sampling techniques.
Field work is physically demanding due to the requirement to transport equipment from the sampling van to the sampling point, which can be a considerable distance. Sampling then requires the safe entry to a water course so that kick samples and chemistry samples can be taken. As the sampling is seasonal, there will be more sampling events occurring in the Spring/Summer time, so there will be a requirement of flexibility at these times where working hours may total more than 7.4 hours in the day due to travel and sampling time, with quieter periods where hours can be balanced.
Use numerous resources to identify specimens to taxonomic rank according to requirements, prepare specimens for identification, and preserve specimens for quality control. Be involved in both testing and quality activities within the laboratory; your duties will include all aspects of analysis of water samples using a variety of recognised analytical techniques. Produce accurate data to support colleagues in completing vital roles throughout the entire business.
Input data of biological results into various biotic indexes based on the requirement of the workstream. For a further insight into the role, Click Here to see what it's like working as an Analyst within the Laboratory.
