Job description

Joining Eurofins Food Testing within a Chemistry laboratory, the purpose of this role is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of samples for a given method using laboratory techniques. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory.

Please note this is a 6-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of a longer contract given a successful probation period. Working hours are 37.5 per week - Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30.

  • Undertaking all tasks within the main laboratory appropriate to the level of training given to you by senior analysts and management.
  • Registration, preparation, and analysis of food samples as required.
  • Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
  • Maintain turnaround time at >95%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Ensure personal protective clothing and equipment are worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
  • Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual to ensure compliance at all times with policies, procedures, and associated documents.
  • Assist in operating best practices to meet UKAS accreditation standards.
  • Maintain a 'clean as you go' mentality.
  • A flexible approach to work to assist other departments as required.
  • Assist with continuous improvement within the chemistry department.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more GCSEs, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced production or laboratory environment.
  • Experience with aseptic techniques is advantageous.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate.
