Job description

Laboratories Quality & Training Manager

Join to apply for the Laboratories Quality & Training Manager role at NHS Scotland.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified HCPC-registered Healthcare Scientist to join our laboratory team as Quality & Training Manager, based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

We seek an enthusiastic, dynamic leader with proven ability to oversee our Quality Management System and Training & Education Programme across all laboratory disciplines, including support for Point of Care services. You will lead the Quality and Training Teams, work well under pressure (e.g., UKAS Inspections), and collaborate effectively within teams.

Requirements include an MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent, or IBMS Fellowship / Higher Specialist Diploma. Additional qualifications in Quality or Training, such as IBMS Certificates of Expert Practice, are encouraged. Active CPD participation is expected, with support for further study.

The role involves working Monday to Friday, with occasional out-of-hours commitments as needed. Our laboratories are well-equipped, providing services across Microbiology (including Molecular Diagnostics & Virology), Pathology, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology/Transfusion, and Point of Care Services. The position covers accreditation in all laboratory disciplines, with knowledge of UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards being essential.

Current accreditation status includes Microbiology & Pathology labs (UKAS ISO 15189:2022), with Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Transfusion, and PoCT services working towards accreditation.

For further details or to arrange a lab visit, contact Liz Kilgour, Microbiology Laboratory Manager, at 01324 566686 or via email at elizabeth.kilgour@nhs.scot. Visits are strongly encouraged.

The successful candidate must be a member of the PVG Scheme. All responses on the application must be your own, with no AI or third-party assistance. NHS Forth Valley is committed to equality, diversity, and supporting disabled applicants.
