Job summary

Pertemps Leeds is seeking an Analytical Services Manager to lead a specialist laboratory team in South Yorkshire. You will oversee analytical testing, develop methods, and support quality systems to ensure safe, accurate services for colleagues and customers.

You will manage a four-person team, drive training and performance, and coordinate budgets and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with ISO 17025 and GMP standards. This is an on-site, UK-based leadership role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification.
• At least five years' relevant technical industry experience in gas analysis or a related field.
• Previous experience directly managing a team.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques such as GC and FTIR.
• Good understanding of ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and GMP.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, prioritising testing, resources and equipment.
• Lead, develop and support a team of four, overseeing training, competency and performance.
• Oversee analytical method development, validation and equipment performance.
• Maintain and improve quality systems and procedures supporting ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001.
• Support internal and external audits, proficiency testing and management reviews.
• Investigate product quality concerns and equipment failures, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Provide technical support at company and customer sites, including occasional out-of-hours work.
• Manage departmental budgets, purchasing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain high safety standards through risk assessments and inspections.
