Synnovis Analytics in the South East Genomic Medicine Service seeks an experienced Biomedical Technician to manage technical staff and oversee diagnostic testing within prenatal and reproductive genomics. You will plan workloads, ensure quality, and drive service improvements as part of a development-focused team.

The role includes leading audits, updating SOPs, and supporting cross-team training, with line management responsibilities and a clear path into leadership.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent.
• Experience with diagnostic genetic testing is required.

Responsabilités

• Line manage technical staff, including timetabling, appraisals and recruitment.
• Organise and monitor workloads and processes with lab manager support.
• Perform significant analysis in one or more tests to meet turnaround targets.
• Provide technical cover and troubleshooting across multiple areas.
• Coordinate staff training and maintain competency records.
• Act as Medical Technical Lead within the learning and development team.
• Create and update SOPs and forms in line with ISO 15189 using Q-Pulse.
• Participate in audits and monitor turnaround times and monthly metrics (OPMS).
• Investigate errors, perform root cause analysis and implement improvements.
• Arrange engineer visits for maintenance and oversee stock records.
• Add reports to the LIS for authorisation and support the Developmental Disorders team.
