Job summary

Guidant Global in Cheltenham is seeking a hands-on IT Infrastructure Laboratory Technician to manage and support our physical and virtual testing environments. You will oversee the hardware lifecycle, network provisioning, and daily troubleshooting of lab infrastructure used by our engineering and development teams.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with physical hardware, possesses strong networking fundamentals, and maintains an exceptionally organised environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise in server hardware, storage, and component maintenance.
• Strong TCP/IP, VLANs, and structured cabling fundamentals.
• Experience installing Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), and virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
• Basic scripting for automation (Bash/PowerShell/Python) is a plus.
• Physical demands require ability to work in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, rack, cable servers and switches; track physical inventory using asset management software.
• Configure OS images, hypervisors, and test networks per engineering requests.
• Run hardware diagnostics and replace faulty components; keep firmware up-to-date.
• Monitor lab environment; ensure data wiping and decommissioning of retired equipment.
• Serve as helpdesk for lab users, handling access, connectivity, or hardware tickets.
