Job summary

Lloyd’s Register requires a Laboratory Day Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract at Redcar. The role focuses on opening, documenting and preparing submitted samples, performing homogenisation, and keeping meticulous records.

Responsibilities include using the lab management system, audits participation, and supporting daily lab operations and stock management. Some weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• A/AS/GCSE Level(s) in related subject(s).
• Previous experience in relevant laboratory and/or industry-based experience would be an advantage.
• Ability to gain knowledge of relevant laboratory operations/standards and properties of relevant chemical products.

Responsibilities

• Perform sample preparation to a high standard and maintain records.
• Data entry of sample information into the laboratory management system.
• Advise Day Supervisor of any operational or QHSE issues.
• Open sample packages and ensure paperwork is correct for booking.
• Undertake additional duties as directed by supervisors/managers.
• Comply with working rota and weekend hours as directed.
• Provide cover for absence during normal hours and Saturdays with approval.
• Participate in internal/external audits (ISO 9001, 18001, 45001 & 17025).
• Carry out sample storage and disposal as directed.
• Perform stock checks of consumables and chemicals to keep labs stocked.
• Perform daily balance and hotplate checks and complete forms.
