Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training program with clinical rotation.
  • Minimum 6 months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing experience required.

Job description

Work Schedule:

  • 100% FTE, day shift. Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Hours may vary based on departmental needs.
  • Location: UW Health DeForest-Windsor Clinic.

Pay:

  • External hires may be eligible for up to a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

We are seeking a Lab Assistant to:

  • Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
  • Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform kit testing, and handle instrument maintenance (monitoring temperatures, reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing).
  • Check-in patients and enter laboratory test orders in the laboratory information system.
  • Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing personnel, and patients.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training program with clinical rotation.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 6 months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing experience required.
  • 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and processing preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Phlebotomist certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent preferred.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent preferred.
