Job description

We are working with an award-winning employer to find a Lab Technician in the Chelmsford area to join their team. As part of the role, you will be working within the science and research industry to ensure that good housekeeping and a clean, safe working environment are maintained throughout the lab.

The role involves working a rotating shift pattern of 6am-1pm & 1pm-8pm, alternating weekly.

Please note: you must be a car driver with access to your own car and live within a 20-minute commute of Chelmsford. We will not consider applications from those out of area. Only apply if you do not require sponsorship, as this is not offered by our client.

Duties

To perform routine testing of samples for elemental content using classical and instrumental techniques within a fast-paced commercial laboratory environment, following SOPs.

  • Conduct analysis of samples with high accuracy in accordance with ISO17025 accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with laboratory management to achieve KPIs.
  • Organize and complete work as assigned by the team leader/supervisor.
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with HSE policies, Risk Assessments, and COSHH procedures.
  • Contribute actively to lean and continuous improvement activities within the lab.

Requirements for this Lab Technician role include:

  • An interest in Science; GCSEs/A-levels or a degree in a science-based field.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Good communication skills with personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to prepare and weigh samples accurately and efficiently, with attention to detail.
  • Organized and disciplined work approach.
