L5 Planner/MEH Construction Planner
Location: Bridgwater
Contract: PAYE Contract (+ 36 days paid leave) or via approved umbrella company
Initial CED: 31/12/2025
The construction planner will support the construction lead planner in developing and progressing the integrated level 5 schedule, which encompasses the full MEH scope. The schedule also reflects interfaces with other tier 1 partners to ensure full integration.
The MEH Deputy Lead Planner is part of the MEH Programme, working with the PDO planning team, Delivery Integration, and the Area Management teams.
Principal Accountabilities
- Development, integration, design, testing, and commissioning of detailed construction schedules within the MEH phase.
- Considering all aspects of integrated mechanical, electrical, and HVAC (MEH) planning for works on the Hinkley Point C project. This involves conducting schedule reviews to develop detailed, optimized construction delivery sequences and resource-loaded schedules.
- Integration of construction activities with HPC programmes to optimize planning.
- Supporting the overall project schedule, including the 16-week look-ahead process.
- Managing and updating schedule data within planning tools.
- Supporting performance optimization and enhancing 4D capabilities for safety, quality, cost, time, and risk management.
- Ensuring schedules are supported by relevant digital tools and data.
- Producing, managing, and maintaining construction schedules according to procedures and contract requirements.
- Reporting site progress and informing relevant stakeholders.
- Advocating safe and effective planning for site construction, integrating safety considerations into planning processes.
- Developing detailed area-specific plans to coordinate work activities and optimize sequences, considering contractor interfaces within the 16-week horizon.
- Communicating schedule resource requirements, durations, and quantities to construction leads.
- Supporting periodic look-ahead processes with integrated schedule data.
- Identifying planning scope, constraints, and contract requirements.
- Estimating quantities and factors affecting the programme.
- Establishing and agreeing on construction outputs and working hours.
- Developing resource, material, and quantity profiles from the level 5 schedule.
- Creating schedule metrics and reports to measure adherence and performance.
- Collaborating with the 4D team to develop animated schedule sequences and enhance visualization tools.
- Working with construction teams and PDO to develop visual management tools for field deployment.
- Encouraging lessons learned to support future projects.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction processes, and their integration.
- Experience with programme progress tracking and forecasting.
- Strong communication skills.
- Understanding of planning, programming, and progress monitoring methods.
- Knowledge of construction methods, plant, equipment, and labor requirements.
- Basic understanding of estimating principles.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience delivering complex projects in regulated environments.
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of French is advantageous.
- Industrial experience in MEH delivery.
- Desirable: 4D and 5D planning experience, nuclear construction background.
- Educational background: Construction trade or OND/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field; professional memberships (e.g., RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE, CIBSE) are advantageous.
