Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council at Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School is seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our Nurture Provision, supporting children with SEND and working with the SENDCo to bridge social, emotional and academic gaps.

The role involves delivering small-step teaching, building positive relationships with pupils and families, and helping learners become creative, independent and reflective within a term-time, fixed-term contract until 31 August 2027.

Are you a patient, nurturing, and dedicated practitioner looking to make a genuine difference? Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School is seeking a motivated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our team.

In this pivotal role, you will work within our Nurture Provision, providing a bespoke, alternative curriculum for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with our SENDCo and teaching staff to bridge the gap for children who face social, emotional, or behavioural barriers to learning, supporting them both in our specialised provision and within mainstream classrooms.

The Role

Working collaboratively with teachers, Phase Leaders, and the SENDCo, you will:

  • Help children become creative, independent, and reflective learners.
About You

We are looking for a flexible individual who can use their initiative and demonstrates:

  • Experience: Prior experience in an Enhanced Resource Provision or a similar SEND setting is desirable but a passion for working with vulnerable children is essential.
  • Expertise: A proven ability to support children with EHCPs and a wide range of complex needs is desirable but a passion for working with vulnerable children is essential.
  • Communication: Strong verbal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with children and families.
  • Demeanour: A calm, positive, and engaging approach even in challenging situations.
  • Organisation: Excellent time management and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
