Job Description:

Our client, a leading L/S Equities boutique, is looking to hire an experienced and intellectually rigorous Equity Analyst to join its London-based investment team, with a dedicated focus on the global automotive sector.

The role offers the opportunity to work within a high-performing, collaborative environment, contributing directly to portfolio construction and performance. The successful candidate will bring a strong analytical foundation, deep sector knowledge, and a demonstrated ability to generate differentiated investment insights across both long and short positions.

Our client is deeply committed to developing internal talent, offering a clear and structured pathway for ambitious professionals to grow within the firm. From day one, team members are mentored by senior leaders and exposed to progressive opportunities in money management. For those who demonstrate strong performance and potential, there’s a defined route to managing assets and, ultimately, running a dedicated investment sleeve - giving high-performers real skin in the game and long-term career upside.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive fundamental research and financial analysis on companies across the global automotive value chain, including OEMs, parts suppliers, and emerging electric vehicle (EV) disruptors.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models, sector frameworks, and valuation tools to support investment decisions.
  • Identify and present high-conviction investment ideas to Portfolio Managers, with clearly articulated risk/reward profiles.
  • Monitor industry developments, technological innovations, regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic factors affecting the automotive sector globally.
  • Collaborate with other investment professionals to inform broader portfolio strategy and risk management.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 3–7 years’ experience in equity research or investment analysis, ideally within a long/short equity strategy.
  • Extensive experience covering the automotive sector, including traditional and electric vehicle segments.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate and support actionable investment ideas through independent, bottom-up analysis.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, coupled with sound judgment and commercial acumen.
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex ideas succinctly and persuasively.
