ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated candidate with a
background in chemistry (including chemical engineering, materials science, polymers, or related disciplines) to contribute to our efforts in delivering impactful research focused on sustainability in industrial plastic processes.
This position involves the Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme, fostering collaboration between academia and industry. It is ideal for a candidate who combines strong academic skills with a desire to work within industry, oversee project implementation, and drive change in a business setting. You will also have the opportunity to apply your research skills in an industrial context and develop expertise across multiple disciplines including chemistry, chemometrics, materials science, life cycle assessment, and civil engineering.

This is a
fixed-term role for 24 months.
ABOUT THE TEAM
You will join a team of academics and industry experts, including a world-leading manufacturer of PVC, INEOS compounds.
The role is based at INEOS's site in Newton-Aycliffe, with access to advanced facilities at Northumbria University in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Your main responsibilities will include leading an innovative project aimed at improving PVC production processes. This involves developing a semi-automated analytical strategy, process development for waste reduction and valorisation, and assessing the environmental impact of these processes.
