Job Description:

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

A well-established and academically focused Catholic school in the Hillingdon area seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Teacher to join our Social Sciences department on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity to specialise in teaching Psychology at Key Stage 5 within a supportive and values-based learning environment.

  • About Our Learning Community: Our school provides a welcoming and inclusive environment rooted in Catholic principles, with a strong commitment to the academic and holistic development of all our students. We have a dedicated Social Sciences department that values the exploration of human behaviour and the social world within an ethical framework.
  • About the Role:
    • Deliver engaging and challenging Psychology lessons specifically at Key Stage 5 (likely A-Level), covering core areas of the curriculum such as cognitive psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, biological psychology, research methods, and psychopathology.
    • Develop and implement innovative lesson plans that incorporate case studies, research activities, ethical considerations, and critical analysis of psychological theories and studies relevant to the A-Level syllabus.
    • Assess student progress through essays, presentations, research reports, and examinations at Key Stage 5, providing detailed and constructive feedback to support their academic development in Psychology.
    • Contribute to the development of the Key Stage 5 Psychology curriculum and resources within the Social Sciences department.
    • Foster an interest in Psychology beyond the classroom through discussions, debates, and potentially facilitating relevant extracurricular activities.
    • Uphold and promote the values and ethos of a Catholic school within your teaching.
  • Ideal Candidate:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Psychology or a closely related field.
    • Proven experience of successfully teaching Psychology at Key Stage 5 (A-Level), with a thorough understanding of the relevant syllabus and assessment requirements.
    • A strong understanding of psychological research methods, ethical considerations in psychological research, and the ability to critically evaluate psychological theories and evidence.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate Sixth Form students in the study of Psychology.
    • A passion for Psychology and a commitment to fostering students' understanding of human behaviour and mental processes within an ethical context.
    • A commitment to the values and ethos of Catholic education.
  • Competitive salary (MPS/UPS + Outer London Weighting) commensurate with experience.
  • Opportunities for professional development within a supportive Social Sciences department in a Catholic school setting.
  • A chance to specialise in teaching Psychology at Key Stage 5 to motivated students.
  • A supportive and welcoming school community in the Hillingdon area.
