KS3 SEMH Teaching Assistant – Birmingham

Location: Birmingham

Duration: Full-time, Ongoing

Salary: £85 – £100 per day

About the Role: A dedicated special needs school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate KS3 Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role requires a compassionate individual who can contribute to a supportive learning environment, conducting assessments and providing tailored assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the social, emotional, and mental health needs of KS3 students.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom displays.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students.
  • Collaborating within the SEMH department.
  • Demonstrating flexibility, proactivity, and patience.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience or strong interest in supporting students with SEMH.
  • Nurturing and compassionate approach.
  • Effective team communication skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN experience.
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • PECS and Makaton experience (desirable).
  • Valid Enhanced DBS check (or subscription to the update service).
  • Valid Photo ID (driving license or passport).
  • Recent, verifiable school-based references.
  • Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate.
