Job summary

Teaching Assistant (KS2) - Maternity Cover
Castle Cary
Start Date: October 2026
Pay: £90-£94 per day

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school from October 2026 on a maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will need to be able to travel into Castle Cary, supporting pupils across KS2.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is committed to helping children thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will:
  • Be an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with children and inspires them to achieve their potential.
  • Be able to support pupils across KS2.
  • Be willing and able to travel to Castle Cary.
  • Be an excellent team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and contributing to school life.
  • Be committed to their own professional development journey.
  • Have experience working with children with SEN and/or SEMH needs (desirable).
  • Previous experience in a childcare setting is ideal, but not essential as full support will be provided.
The role includes:
  • Supporting teaching and learning across KS2 classrooms.
  • Working closely with teachers to deliver targeted support to pupils.
  • Assisting children with additional needs to access learning effectively.
