Job description

KS2 Teaching Assistant - Princes Risborough - October Half Term 2026

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Princes Risborough is seeking a dedicated KS2 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team after October half term 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic, and proactive individual who enjoys working with children and supporting their learning and development. The role will involve general classroom support across Key Stage 2, alongside providing additional support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in response to the needs within each class.

All classes have pupils with SEN, so the role will offer a varied balance of supporting the class as a whole, working one-to-one with individual pupils, and delivering small-group interventions. Pupils have a range of additional needs, including autism (ASD), deafness, Down syndrome, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Some pupils also have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

This position would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to gain valuable experience in a primary school setting, including graduates considering a future career in teaching or another child-focused profession.

This is a term-time position, working five days a week, with hours in line with the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing general classroom support to KS2 pupils to help them engage with learning and make progress.
  • Supporting pupils with SEN in response to individual needs within the classroom.
  • Providing one-to-one assistance and small-group interventions where required.
  • Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence, communication, and social skills.
  • Supporting the implementation of individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes where appropriate.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to meet the needs of all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children in a school or similar setting, although a genuine passion for education and willingness to learn are equally valued.
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
  • A proactive attitude and a commitment to helping every pupil reach their potential.
What the School Offers
  • A welcoming and supportive school environment.
  • The opportunity to gain experience across KS2 and develop a broad range of classroom support skills.
  • Valuable experience supporting pupils with a variety of learning needs.
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference to children's education and development.

If you're looking for a rewarding KS2 Teaching Assistant opportunity in Princes Risborough, combining general classroom support with additional SEN support where needed, we'd love to hear from you.
