Sussex Teachers are working with a thriving, community-focused primary school near Worthing to find a dedicated Year 6 SEND teacher to lead a small class of 8 pupils with SEMH, SEND, and associated learning challenges.

If you’re passionate about making learning accessible, building trust with children who need it most, and creating an environment where every small step forward is celebrated—this is the role for you.

Why This School?

  • A supportive, child-centred culture where teachers are empowered.
  • Part of a successful Academy Trust with built-in career development.
  • A collaborative approach to leadership—no rigid top-down structures.
  • Great location—between Littlehampton and Worthing, with easy access and ample staff parking.

About the Role

You’ll be leading a small Year 6 SEND class, creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment where pupils can thrive. You’ll have support, but your expertise in behaviour management, tailored learning, and student engagement will be key.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
  • Implementing IEPs and EHCP strategies, working closely with the SENDCo, support staff, and external professionals.
  • Assessing progress and adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider school team.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and primary SEND experience.
  • A proven track record of working with SEND pupils in a primary setting.
  • Strong differentiation skills and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • A commitment to high expectations, patience, and belief in every child’s potential.

What’s in It for You?

  • A small, well-supported class with additional support staff.
  • A welcoming, well-resourced school that values its staff.
  • Ongoing SEND training and professional development.
  • A role where you’ll see your impact daily.
